Oh Christmas Tree
I love Christmas more than any other holiday because of the bright colors, the lights, the decorations, and the joy. However, the Christmas tree is my greatest achievement during the Christmas season and is the most important part of my holiday tradition. When I was very young my parents divorced and my mom didn’t remarry until the summer before middle school, but that first Christmas we all went to the Christmas tree farm together, as a family to pick the perfect tree. This memory was one of the first experiences I felt of a true full family memory and because of that I wish to continue the tradition for the rest of my life and pass down the tradition to my children. Jack and I have been buying a tree together since 2011 and I couldn’t wait to find the perfect one for this year. We decided to make the drive out to the Owasso Christmas Tree Farm and as soon as we pulled up I was overfilled with excitement. We walked through all the rows of the pine trees, smelling and touching every single one as we passed and picking out which one would look best in our house, future house, or which one would be the children’s tree. It was magical and the Christmas spirit was everywhere. I have a smile on my face as I type this blog post and words can’t express the feelings. Another point I have besides building traditions and holding onto memories is that real trees are so much better than fake ones!!! How much fun is it for you to pull a tree out of the garage/attack and try to make sure every light is working? Can you smell fresh evergreen from your fake tree? No! It isn’t fun and you should enjoy the tree picking experience, so go with your family to a local tree farm and enjoy every second of it because it will be a memory that will last forever.
